Our view
“Paperbacks from Hell” is a funny, affectionate history of the lurid horror paperbacks of the 1970s and 1980s. Grady Hendrix informs as much as he entertains, setting their outrageous plots and covers against the world of the time, from the satanic panic to the AIDS crisis. It is as good for dipping into as for reading straight through. Horror readers will close it with a list of strange titles to track down.
