Our view
“Tehanu” is the quietest of the Earthsea novels, more interested in the bonds between people than in wizardry. It brings Ged and Tenar back and gives its warmth to a mother and daughter. Some readers find the plot thinner, the magic scarcer and the pace slower than before, yet praise the ending. It speaks most to those who already know the earlier books.

About the book
Tehanu, initially subtitled The Last Book of Earthsea, is a fantasy novel by Ursula K. Le Guin, published in February 1990 by Atheneum. It is the fourth of her Earthsea novels, written nearly twenty years after the first three novels. It was followed by further Earthsea stories, even though its subtitle initially proclaimed it as the last.
