Our view

“Strata” is an irreverent early Pratchett comedy in which his gift for absurd world-building is already plain. Its heroine works for a company that builds planets, and the novel gleefully throws together familiar science-fiction ideas. Discworld readers will recognise an early sketch of a flat world, and some readers sense a kinship with Douglas Adams. A curiosity well worth it for anyone who loves his later books.
