Our view
“Phantom” is a dark, gripping ninth case for Jo Nesbø’s Inspector Harry Hole. Its Norwegian title means a revenant, someone who returns from the dead, and that ghostly undertone hangs over the whole mystery. Some readers single out a major twist as the highlight. As a late volume, it gives the most to those who have followed Harry from the start.
