Our view

“Nona the Ninth” returns to the strange world of “The Locked Tomb”, and Muir’s worldbuilding remains its chief pleasure. She blends dark material with humour; the frustration, for some readers, is having to piece together what actually happened from scattered hints. Third in the series, with a further volume to come, it cannot be followed without the first two.
