Our view
Max Gladstone’s “Last First Snow” is a tense, politically charged Craft Sequence novel about repairing a district without asking its residents. Some readers single out the vivid characters, the living city and the intricate world-building; some of them also feel that knowing the earlier books drains a little of the suspense and that the final battle ends flat. Fantasy readers who like magic handled like law and business will find plenty to chew on.

About the book
"Forty years after the God Wars, Dresediel Lex bears the scars of liberation--especially in the Skittersill, a poor district still bound by the fallen gods' decaying edicts. The King in Red hires Elayne Kevarian of the Craft firm Kelethres, Albrecht, and Ao to fix the wards, but the Skittersill's people have their own ideas"--
