Trail of Lightning is a 2018 fantasy novel, the debut novel by Rebecca Roanhorse. After a supernatural disaster destroys most of North America, Navajo monster-slayer Maggie Hoskie must navigate a post-apocalyptic world of monsters and Native American gods. The novel won the 2019 Locus Award for Best First Novel and was a finalist for the Hugo, World Fantasy, and Nebula awards. “This was a fun read. It took me back to the days of Leaphorn and Chee just a little bit. :) Great strong female protagonist. I'll be looking forward to the second one.”
“A quick pace made it easy to read but something about the order of events and how it felt things just kept “happening” to the characters felt off to me. Maybe I just don't like plot driven books. I don't read many of them.”
