Our view

“Forever Odd” brings back Odd Thomas six months on, his wry humour intact but shadowed by loss. Dean Koontz again combines ghosts, a disappearance and a small-town setting, and the mood is dark. Some readers are struck by how much the young narrator has aged in a single year, and find that this melancholy, set against his quick jokes, gives the book its character. It is the second of seven novels.
