Our view

“First Family” is a solid fourth outing for David Baldacci’s investigating pair King and Maxwell, with conspiracy at its core. Some readers enjoy how it ties up threads left open in the previous book, especially around Maxwell, though they find the women in it flat at moments. It is best read in order, after the third volume.
