Our view
“Faceless Killers” is a dark murder mystery and the natural place to start the Wallander novels. Henning Mankell’s first book about Kurt Wallander keeps a sombre mood throughout and is at times moving. Some readers find it a conventional detective story in which Sweden serves as little more than a backdrop. Eleven more novels follow for those who want a series to settle into.
