Our view

“Elysium Fire” returns to the “Revelation Space” universe with dark, tense hard science fiction. It follows straight on from “Aurora Rising” as the second Prefect Dreyfus novel, yet it is built to stand alone, and a reader who met the first book long ago, or never, can follow it. Some see in it Reynolds’s most political novel so far, with the Brexit years plainly on its mind.
