“Dreams of Steel” carries the Black Company’s grim war forward with a change of voice, as the Lady takes over the telling. Glen Cook keeps his mix of epic and dark fantasy as she rebuilds what is left of the company. Some readers miss the warmer, more human voice of the earlier chronicler and find the Lady harsh company. Mainly for readers who like their fantasy hard-edged and military.
