Our view
“Curtain” gives Hercule Poirot a fitting, melancholy farewell. It is his last case, and it stands apart from the usual Christie puzzle: the characters are ageing and know it, and right and wrong are less cleanly divided than her readers are used to. The ending is not perfect in every reader’s eyes; even so, those readers count the book a worthy close to the series.
