The second Dungeon Crawler Carl book keeps what made the first one work: a game-show dungeon, dark jokes and Princess Donut, the cat who steals most of the scenes. Much of this volume is given over to side quests and non-player characters, and readers split here — some stay delighted, while others feel the novelty thinning and the main plot waiting. Made for those who love role-playing games and don’t mind chaos.
Worth knowing The second Dungeon Crawler Carl book, published in 2021, picks up directly after the first and takes Carl and Princess Donut, his ex-girlfriend’s cat, down to the third floor of the dungeon. Like the first, it began as a serial on Royal Road and reached most readers through Jeff Hays’s audiobook narration. The series is best read strictly in order, since each book starts where the last one stopped.
