Il secondo volume di Dungeon Crawler Carl conserva ciò che funzionava nel primo: un dungeon trasformato in gioco a premi, umorismo nero e Donut, la gatta che ruba quasi ogni scena. Buona parte del libro va a missioni secondarie e personaggi non giocanti, e qui ci si divide: alcuni restano entusiasti, altri sentono la novità consumarsi e la trama principale aspettare. Per chi ama i giochi di ruolo e non teme il caos.
