Our view

“Bridge to Terabithia” begins as a quiet story about two neighbours who invent a secret kingdom, and it captures the joy of shared imagining. Then it becomes a book about loss, and it does not look away. In just over 150 pages it wastes nothing. Some dislike children’s stories that set out to break the heart; admirers find this one beautiful as well as painful. A good book to read with a child.
