Craig Alanson best books, ranked

Craig Alanson — 9 titles in the rankings, first published between 2016 and 2026. They average 7.9, above the 7.8 the whole catalogue averages. One series has a reading order worth keeping to.

Editor’s note Expeditionary Force is military science fiction played for laughs: after aliens invade Earth, US Army soldier Joe Bishop ends up in space with Skippy, an ancient, all-powerful and insufferably arrogant alien AI. Originally self-published, it found a huge audience, much of it through the audiobooks. Start with Columbus Day, the most read and best rated; the ratings hold steady across the series.
