- Three books, told in turns by Carter and Sadie as if they were recording tapes, and the voices only work if you meet them in order.
- Riordan wrote this between the two Percy Jackson series and it stands completely apart — Egyptian gods, no crossover in the trilogy itself.
- The crossovers exist and come afterwards: three short stories in which the Kanes meet Percy and Annabeth, published as Demigods & Magicians, which assume you have finished both series.
