Our view
The eighth and penultimate Expanse novel shows why the series has lasted: however vast the conflict becomes, the weight rests on characters readers have followed for years, and several of them get moments here that feel fully earned. The plot keeps wrong-footing expectations, and some readers rate it above the volume before. It is no place to begin, but for those who have come this far it is one of the most satisfying stops.

About the book
Tiamat's Wrath is a science fiction novel by James S. A. Corey, the pen name of Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, and the eighth book in their series The Expanse. Following the series' tradition of referring to ancient mythology in its titles, the book's title references the Babylonian goddess Tiamat, who took part in the creation of the universe.
