Our view
“The Warlord of Mars” is pure science-fantasy adventure, and a fitting third Barsoom novel for anyone already caught up in John Carter’s story. Some readers find it even fuller of action than its predecessor; others follow breathlessly whether the hero will ever reach Dejah Thoris again. Some admirers also note a slowish start or a narrator whose self-praise takes getting used to.
