Our view

“The Twits” is Roald Dahl at his nastiest and briefest: under a hundred pages about a foul couple who torment each other and their pet monkeys. The tricks are inventive, the revenge is gleeful, and some readers carry away a lasting warning against ending up like Mr Twit. Others find the vengeance too cruel a lesson for children and the story loosely built. It is best for young readers who enjoy their humour disgusting.
