Our view
“The Shelters of Stone”, the fifth “Earth’s Children” novel, is a homecoming story: Jondalar brings Ayla back to live among his own people. At over eight hundred pages it is written for readers already attached to the couple and their prehistoric world. Some readers feel the series has lost strength since its first volumes, and others find Ayla too flawless to believe in.
