Our view
“The Secret Garden” is a gentle, hopeful children’s classic whose warmth comes from watching its young characters become a family of their own making. Adults who return to it can find the comfort intact, though some note that the book belongs to its era and that its attitudes call for a critical eye. Short, cosy, and well suited to a quiet afternoon.
