Our view

“The Ringworld Engineers” is the first sequel to “Ringworld”, and it divides its readers. Some enjoy it from start to finish, though it leaves them no lasting memory. Others find it tedious, the plot weakly driven, the stops among local peoples beside the point and the interspecies sex gratuitous, or lose their bearings in Niven’s descriptions of place. Best approached by those who already care about the first book.
