Our view

“The Rest of Us Just Live Here” starts from a clever question: what is life like for the teenagers who are not the chosen ones? Ness keeps the monsters at the edge and follows Mikey, who only wants to graduate and ask a girl out, and readers who love it love these ordinary friends. Some find the background plot confusing and poorly explained, and some feel the idea is better than the story built on it.
