Our view
The third Robert Langdon thriller moves the puzzle-chase to Washington, D.C. and Freemasonry, and delivers the familiar momentum once it gets going. Some readers find it slower to take hold than its predecessors and its central secret far-fetched; others point to dialogue that sounds childish in places or to a plot bound up with American national symbols. One of its turns still catches some readers out. For readers who already enjoy Langdon.
