Our view
Rowling returns to children’s fiction with “The Ickabog”, a lively, engaging fairy tale with a darker edge to its adventure. First published online in instalments, it reached print in 2020, her first book for children since the “Harry Potter” series. Some readers found it quick and hard to put down; it is written for a younger audience than her wizarding saga.
