Our view
“The Host” is science fiction with little interest in hardware: the alien invasion is mostly a frame for a story about two minds sharing one body and the loyalties that follow. Some readers consider it the author’s strongest and most affecting work, largely thanks to the characters. Others find the pace slow and the action sparse across more than five hundred pages, and some think the romantic dialogue clichéd.
