Our view

“The Infinite Sea” continues “The 5th Wave” trilogy in a dark, inward mood, handing much of the story to characters who were minor in the first book. Some readers credit the writing but find it weaker than its predecessor: the plot, they say, hardly advances before the final stretch, and the same scenes return from different viewpoints. It is a middle volume for those already committed.
