Editor’s note The second Millennium book was published in Sweden in 2006, two years after Stieg Larsson’s death in 2004, and in English in 2009. Lisbeth Salander comes back from a year abroad to find her fingerprints on the gun that killed two journalists working with Blomkvist on a story about sex trafficking, and her legal guardian; the police hunt her through the tabloids while she and Blomkvist, separately, work out who wanted all three dead, which leads to her father. It is the book that explains her, the childhood, the guardianship, the ward she was kept in, and it ends in a hole in the ground outside Gosseberga with the third book a direct continuation. In German it is Verdammnis.
About the book
The electrifying follow-up to the phenomenal best seller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The fierce heart of this novel is Lisbeth Salander: the troubled, wise-beyond-her-years genius hacker who teamed up with crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This time, Lisbeth is implicated in a murder: her fingerprints found on the weapon used to kill two journalists the night before their explosive story about sex trafficking in Sweden was set to be published. Now, while Blomkvist—alone in his belief in her innocence—plunges into his own investigation of the slayings, Lisbeth is drawn into a hunt in which she is the prey, and which compels her to revisit her dark past in an effort to settle with it once and for all.

Reader voices
The most-liked reviews on Hardcover (credited to their authors).
“I liked this better than the first. Less disturbing, but still has twists and turns. Still not sure I “like” Lisbeth but I appreciate her. Looking forward to the last one.”
“I prefer to read original language rather than translation, am suspicious of sudden hits, rarely read crime novels, and virtually never start a series partway through. In this case, however, I needed some thick travel books for a long layover, and I took what was…”
