Our view
“Strega Nona” is a warm, funny picture book about the witch Strega Nona and Big Anthony, her helper. Tomie dePaola’s uncluttered drawings glow with soft colour, and the comedy carries its moral without preaching. It earned a Caldecott Honor in 1976 and opens a series of nine books.
