Our view
“State of Fear” is two books in one: a globe-trotting adventure thriller and a footnoted argument about global warming. Eco-terrorists with a murderous plan supply the chase, which some readers enjoy more than the debate, though the action comes so thick that some feel numbed by it. Others relish the character who takes apart the case for man-made warming. Anyone opening it gets a polemic as well as a thriller.
