Our view
“Skeleton Crew” is a big, uneven Stephen King collection whose best pieces outshine the book as a whole. Novellas, short stories and poems range from science fiction to body horror with no common thread, and readers often call the result patchy. “The Mist” and “Gramma” are singled out more than once, while some find other entries forgettable. Committed King readers willing to pick favourites will get the most out of it.

About the book
"An eerie-looking child's toy harbors an unimaginable evil. A supermarket is unexpectedly the place where humanity makes its last stand against destruction. A trip to the attic becomes a journey to hell. An idyllic lake conceals a bottomless terror. And a desert island is the scene of the most frightening struggle for survival ever waged.
