Our view

“Servant of the Empire” raises the stakes of the “Empire Trilogy” from one noble house to the Empire itself, and Mara is still its great asset. She fights her enemies with intelligence, a deep grasp of her own culture and a readiness to see through other people’s eyes, which is what makes this political fantasy by Feist and Janny Wurts so satisfying. Some readers find the book overlong in places; the ending is moving.
