Our view
“Ross Poldark” is a broad, absorbing start to Winston Graham’s twelve-novel historical saga, first published in 1945. For some readers it is every bit as gripping as the television adaptations; others find its central love story uncomfortable and its characters bland. Nearly five hundred pages long, it is a family chronicle for readers willing to commit to the long haul.
