Our view
“High Fidelity” is a very funny novel about a man it never lets off the hook. Rob hides from adult life in his record collection, and readers may well dislike him and recognise something of themselves in him all the same; that discomfort is where the book gets its truth. It suits anyone willing to keep company with an immature hero in exchange for honest comedy about how people treat those they love.
