Our view

“Green Eggs and Ham” is a beginner’s book built on almost nothing: Sam-I-am keeps offering the same odd dish, and the refusals grow sillier with each repetition until the inevitable taste. That repetition is the point, and it makes the book a pleasure to read aloud with small children. Some adults find little beneath the fun and tire of the relentless pestering, but simplicity is rarely done this well.
