Both leads of “First-Time Caller” are easy to like, and so are most of the people around them. Borison opens the “Heartstrings” series by pairing Aiden, a radio host on a romance hotline who has stopped believing in love, with Lucie, whose daughter rings the show to find her a date. The characters are written with care, though Aiden’s past, some readers feel, is explored more fully than Lucie’s.
