Our view

“Fairest” tells the villain’s story from the inside, and its appeal depends on wanting a whole book in Queen Levana’s company. Some readers come away finding the characters of “The Lunar Chronicles” more rounded and are glad they did not skip it; others remain unconvinced by her motives, and some feel two major deaths pass too abruptly. Short and dark, it adds most for readers midway through the series.

About the book

"Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who is the Fairest of them all? Pure evil has a name, hides behind a mask of deceit, and uses her "glamour" to gain power. But who is Queen Levana? Long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress in The Lunar Chronicles, Levana lived a very different story―a story that has never been told . . . until now."-- Provided by Amazon
