Our view
“Dreams from My Father” is a candid, well-written memoir about race, family and what a person owes to those who came before. It follows Obama from a Honolulu childhood to Chicago, ending as he enters Harvard Law School, with an openness unexpected in a politician. Some feel that it passes lightly over the experiences it recounts. Its natural readers are those drawn to a life shaped by more than one country and community.
