Our view
The fifth Red Rising novel is a war story at full scale and it does not look away: some readers describe being horrified and admiring it anyway. Brown’s battle scenes remain his great strength, and its 800 pages rarely go long without one. Some see the opening and the ending as the high points and find the middle loses momentum and takes persistence. Only for those deep in the series and ready for its darkness.
