Our view
Dahl’s factory tour is inventive, fast and funnier than it is sweet, with a streak of dark comedy running under the sugar. It is also made for reading aloud: the sentences flow and the chapters are just the right length for it. Some readers find Charlie himself rather pale beside the eccentric Willy Wonka. A sure choice for children, and for adults reading with them.
