Our view
“Cell” is a brisk, grim road novel about a father crossing a collapsed world to reach his son, and its short chapters rarely let the pace drop. Some readers place it below Stephen King’s strongest work, and some feel the telling has to carry a thin plot. The sharpest disagreement concerns the ending, which some find breaks off before resolving what they were waiting for.
