Our view
“Bitten” rests on a strong premise: the only woman among the world’s werewolves is called back to the pack she left for an ordinary life in Toronto. The tension comes from that pull between pack and city, and Armstrong tells it straightforwardly, with enough background to make the pack and Elena’s place in it clear. Some readers feel part of that background could have gone. It is her first novel and opens a thirteen-volume series.
