Our view
“Big Magic” is less a method than an encouragement: take creative work seriously without letting it make you miserable. Gilbert writes in short, easily absorbed sections, and some readers come away inspired and more relaxed about making things. Others are left cold by her spiritual way of speaking about ideas as if they were living visitors, and those well read in advice on creativity may meet little here that is new.
