Our view
“All the Bright Places” is an earnest young adult novel about first love and grief that hits hardest when read at the age of its characters. Jennifer Niven drew on her own story, and the feeling behind it shows. Some readers who come to it later, with the wave of tearful teen romances behind them, find it pleasant rather than piercing.
