Scott Meyer

Scott Meyer — one title in the rankings. One series has a reading order worth keeping to.

Editor’s note American writer and creator of the web comic Basic Instructions, whose Magic 2.0 series began as a self-published hit. In Off to Be the Wizard, Martin Banks, an unremarkable programmer, discovers a file that proves reality is a computer program and that he can edit it; when the authorities notice his suddenly growing bank balance, he flees to medieval England to pose as a wizard, only to find other hackers have had the same idea. Light, nerdy and very funny, and readers here like it a lot. Read the series in order.
