Chinua Achebe
Chinua Achebe — one title in the rankings. 2 of the series have a reading order worth keeping to.
Editor’s note Nigerian novelist often called the father of modern African literature. Things Fall Apart, from 1958, is the most widely read African novel in the world: the story of Okonkwo, a proud, fearful and violent leader in an Igbo village, whose life and community are broken by the arrival of British missionaries and colonial rule, told from inside Igbo society. It opens his African Trilogy, followed by No Longer at Ease and Arrow of God. His other books still have too few ratings here.
