Il terzo volume di Dungeon Crawler Carl getta Carl e la gatta Donut in un groviglio di linee del metrò così fitto che alcuni lettori perdono il filo. Le lunghe spiegazioni su treni e stazioni appesantiscono l’inizio e contano meno di quanto sembri. Superate quelle, tornano l’azione e l’umorismo, il finale è riuscito e cresce la storia più ampia che sta dietro al gioco. Per gli appassionati della serie, con un po’ di pazienza.
Da sapere Il terzo libro di Dungeon Crawler Carl, del 2021, porta Carl e la principessa Donut, la gatta parlante, al quarto livello, il Groviglio di Ferro: un nodo di linee e stazioni della metropolitana grande come un continente, dove i treni sono la mappa e scendere alla fermata sbagliata è il modo in cui muore la maggior parte dei crawler. Il titolo indica l’oggetto che Carl riceve, una guida scritta da crawler precedenti su come infrangere le regole del dungeon. La serie di Matt Dinniman è nata come LitRPG autopubblicato, la Terra demolita e i superstiti spediti in un dungeon di diciotto livelli come show galattico, e in questo volume la politica dello show fuori dal dungeon conta quanto i mostri dentro. Non è il punto da cui partire; i libri funzionano solo in ordine.
