  • This is not a reading order and was never meant to be one.
  • The Collected Works are twenty volumes assembled by editors after the fact, grouped by subject and numbered for the shelf, so volume 1 is Jung's 1902 dissertation on occult phenomena and volume 9 is the archetypes everyone came for.
  • Nobody reads them in sequence.
  • The usual way in is Man and His Symbols, which Jung wrote for general readers in his last year, or the memoir Memories, Dreams, Reflections.
  • From the Collected Works themselves, volume 9 part 1 (The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious) and volume 7 (Two Essays on Analytical Psychology) are where most readers start.
